November 9–15, 2009Veterans’ Week
In recognition of their service to our country, American veterans receive free admission to the museum this week.

Wednesday, November 11, 2009Veterans’ Day
American veterans will be honored onboard the aircraft carrier USS Hornet during a special public Veterans Day ceremony. Guest speaker CDR Randall Ramian will talk about his experiences in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. The ceremony begins at 11:00am.

Thursday, November 19, 2009History Mystery “After-Hours” Tour
The History Mystery Tour offers a unique chance to tour the USS Hornet after hours and learn the history of this incredible ship while it is illuminated in the red lights used for “night ops.” We’ll go deep into HORNET where you will also hear the stories behind her legendary haunts. Will we be alone in the dark? Book now and find out! The three-hour guided tour begins at 7:00pm and costs $35 per person ($30 for members). Reservations Required: (510) 521-8448 x 282

Friday, November 20, 2009 – Family Overnight Experience

Take a behind-the-scenes tour and beat the crowds as you explore areas onboard HORNET that have not yet been opened to the public. The three-hour guided tour begins at 8:30am and costs $35 per person ($30 for members). Reservations: (510) 521-8448 x 282.

Hornet Chaplain John Berger conducts church services at 11:00am in the ship's Chapel. All hands and guests are welcome. Free admission to the museum is granted for church attendees.

Splashdown 2009
The USS Hornet Museum held a 4-day festival celebrating the 40th Anniversary  of the Apollo 11 moon landing… and recovery.
