The USS Hornet Museum offers a variety of family and patriotic events throughout the year. Check this calendar often for updates.

Come Aboard

DISCOUNTED GENERAL ADMISSION DEAL COUPONS (such as Groupon, etc) are NOT valid for special events. Full admission prices will be charged at those times if you choose to attend these events, and any coupons presented will be returned for use on another day. Before traveling to the museum to redeem your coupon, please check the calendar listing below for special events that are exempt from discounted coupons.

Any requests for a coupon refund must be made directly to the organization who issued the coupon and from whom you purchased it. Coupons are NOT redeemable for cash nor credit at the museum. Coupons are valid ONLY for general admission (excluding Federal holidays) to the Museum during regular museum hours, 10:00am-5:00pm.

They cannot be used as payment for any group or individual tour, any overnight experience, or any special event (public or private) or program that is available for purchase on the USS Hornet Museum.

For your safety and the security of the Museum, ALL BAGS larger than 12” x 8” x 12” are NOT permitted. This includes backpacks, camera bags, tote bags, diaper bags, ladies purses, etc. Visitors will be asked to return backpacks and large bags to their vehicle. To accommodate visitors arriving by public transportation, there is a limited supply of rentable lockers. Please note: for safety reasons, backpack-style infant carriers are also not permitted.

The ship will be closed to the public this week for general maintenance and restoration. Please plan to visit another time. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Tell your local heroes! Firefighters, police officers, Coast Guard personnel, and other emergency responders: Show your I.D. to receive complimentary museum admission for you and your immediate family during the week of September 7 through September 13!

Saturday, September 12, 2015Living Ship Day: Heroes of Space
Celebrate Patriots & Heroes Week with a special hero as we present a special Living Ship Day featuring former NASA astronaut Daniel W. Bursch (CAPT, USN, RET). He will speak about his experiences as an American astronaut at 1:00pm in Hangar Bay 3.

The History Mystery Tour offers a unique chance to tour the USS Hornet after hours and learn the history of this incredible ship while she is illuminated in the red lights used for “night ops.” We’ll go deep into Hornet where you will also hear the stories behind her legendary haunts. Investigate the historic aircraft carrier’s well-known “paranormal hot spots” while she is illuminated in the red lights used for “night ops.” Will we be alone in the dark? Book now and find out! Saturday, November 7, 2015 – STEM EDUCATOR WORKSHOP
“Teaching Like an Engineer: NGSS Engineering Standards”. The Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) now include K-12 “engineering design standards” requiring students to not just apply science, but to learn engineering as a problem-solving process. In this one-day workshop from 10:00am–1:00pm, we will look into the history of these standards, discuss and define “engineering design,” and work through the 3-step process with both a class discussion and an example activity. Splashdown 2009
The USS Hornet Museum held a 4-day festival celebrating the 40th Anniversary  of the Apollo 11 moon landing… and recovery. Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin and personnel from the recovery team were onboard for this tremendous event. Visit our official Splashdown 2009 page to see the event overview and photos.
