The History Mystery Tour offers a unique chance to tour the USS Hornet after hours and learn the history of this incredible ship while it is illuminated in the red lights used for “night ops.” We’ll go deep into Hornet where you will also hear the stories behind her legendary haunts. Sleep among the spirits as you spend the night onboard after touring the USS Hornet while she is illuminated in the red lights used for “night ops.” Investigate the historic aircraft carrier’s well-known “paranormal hot spots” exclusively in small groups after hours. Saturday, April 21, 2012Living Ship Day: 70th Anniversary Of The Doolittle Raid
Experience an aircraft carrier in action! Witness simulated flight operations as aircraft are lifted to the flight deck and placed into launch position; participate in mission briefings; sit in the cockpit of a fighter jet! Discounted admission coupons (Groupon, kgb, GotDailyDeals, etc) are NOT valid for this event.

Saturday, May 12, 2012 – THE HARRY JAMES ORCHESTRA BIG BAND DANCE
The big band sounds of the Harry James Orchestra return to the USS Hornet! Get ready to put on your dancing shoes and Swing, Jitterbug, Rhumba, Cha Cha, and dance the night away! Don’t worry if you don’t know all of the dance steps—former Fred Astaire dance instructor Jim Truesdale and his team will be giving free dance lessons all night. The fabulous Swingin’ Blue Stars will be performing the Andrew Sisters classics. If you don’t like to dance, just sit back and enjoy the show! Cash bars and food concessions will be available during the evening. General Admission is $40, Captains’ Reserved Seats $60, and Admirals’ Premium Reserved Seats, the best seats in the house, are $80. Call (510) 521-8448 x 282 for more information.

Hornet Chaplain John Berger conducts church services at 11:00am in the ship's Chapel. All hands and guests are welcome. Free admission to the museum is granted for church attendees.

Splashdown 2009
The USS Hornet Museum held a 4-day festival celebrating the 40th Anniversary  of the Apollo 11 moon landing… and recovery.
