The USS Hornet Museum offers a variety of family and patriotic events throughout the year. Check this calendar often for updates.

Come Aboard

DISCOUNTED GENERAL ADMISSION DEAL COUPONS (such as Groupon, etc) are NOT valid for special events. Full admission prices will be charged at those times if you choose to attend these events, and any coupons presented will be returned for use on another day. Before traveling to the museum to redeem your coupon, please check the calendar listing below for special events that are exempt from discounted coupons.

Any requests for a coupon refund must be made directly to the organization who issued the coupon and from whom you purchased it. Coupons are NOT redeemable for cash nor credit at the museum. Coupons are valid ONLY for general admission to the museum during regular museum hours, 10:00am-5:00pm.

They cannot be used as payment for any group or individual tour, any overnight experience, or any special event (public or private) or program that is available for purchase on the USS Hornet Museum.

Saturday, June 15, 2013 – Flashlight Tour
Take a behind-the-scenes tour of the USS Hornet including spaces that have not yet been opened to the public. The three-hour guided tour begins at 8:30am and costs $35 per person ($30 for members). Reservations Required: (510) 521-8448 x 224

Sunday, June 16, 2013 – Living Ship Day: Salute to Dad
Treat Dad to a Father’s Day Barbecue on an aircraft carrier! Witness simulated flight operations as aircraft are lifted to the flight deck and placed into launch position; ride an aircraft elevator; sit in the cockpit of a fighter jet! In addition to the usual Living Ship activities, the Museum will “Salute Dad” with a special barbecue offer featuring a choice of ribs, chicken, pulled pork, or tri-tip sandwiches and two side dishes. Hamburgers, hot dogs, and beer will also be available for purchase. Children of all ages will enjoy a magic show by local magician Scott Alcalay. The show, which begins at 1 p.m., is a fun-filled extravaganza where guests get to be part of the act.

The History Mystery Tour offers a unique chance to tour the USS Hornet after hours and learn the history of this incredible ship while she is illuminated in the red lights used for “night ops.” We’ll go deep into Hornet where you will also hear the stories behind her legendary haunts. Thursday, July 4, 2013 – July 4th Celebration
Celebrate July 4th onboard the USS Hornet, the Bay Area’s National Treasure. It’s party fun for the whole family! Tour the famous aircraft carrier and enjoy a day filled with food, games, and a live concert on the Flight Deck beginning at 3:00pm. Dance or listen to BAY AREA HEAT who perform a mix of styles that cover everything from R&B to disco. Have fun with the high energy Celtic rock band TEMPEST performing their original music. End the evening with THE STACY ADAMS BAND who will have you moving your feet to classic R&B, Funk, and Blues.

On the Hangar Deck from 2:00pm until 8:00pm you can enjoy the sounds of GOLDEN GATE HARMONY, an a cappella barbershop quartet who will be greeting guests as they board our ship. Admission also includes kids games, bounce house, and free pinball machines. There will be Cash Bars and Food for Sale on both decks.

Sleep among the spirits as you spend the night onboard after touring the USS Hornet exclusively in small groups after hours. Investigate the historic aircraft carrier’s well-known “paranormal hot spots” while she is illuminated in the red lights used for “night ops.” Will we be alone in the dark? Book now and find out! Splashdown 2009
The USS Hornet Museum held a 4-day festival celebrating the 40th Anniversary  of the Apollo 11 moon landing… and recovery.
