Group Tours may still book during days the museum is closed to the public
- All reservations must be made at least 1 week in advance
- Group Tours can book for weekends during museum operation hours and during weekdays if date is available
- Private docents are $60.00 for 3 hours and the ratio is 1:20
- All ship safety protocol must be followed
Group Tours are for groups of 15 or more. Visitors who make an advanced reservation for a Group Tour will receive a discount at Admissions but will otherwise get all the benefits of a daytime guest! Daytime visits are mostly self-guided with docents stationed in the Hangar Bay and Flight Deck to answer questions. Following a brief safety orientation, visitors are free to explore the many passageways, compartments, and decks of this historic ship. Visitors who arrive as a group can arrive and stay as long as they prefer following the Museum’s standard hours of operation from 10 AM to 5 PM.
Group Tour Add-Ons
Enhance your group’s experience by selecting any of the following options on your reservation form:
- “Tour at Sea”
Many of our Docents are veterans of the USS Hornet or other aircraft carriers. Let them escort your group on a private “Tour at Sea” guided tour throughout the ship and share their personal stories as well as Hornet’s history and legacy. $30.00/hr per docent, minimum 2 hours (1 docent suggested for every 20 people)
- Lunch in the Officers’ Mess
Eat lunch in Hornet’s Officers’ Mess! With advance reservations, catered lunches are provided in an Officers’ Mess with a one-hour room reservation. Please refer to lunch order form for options and to place orders. Prices vary. Lunch orders must be submitted one week in advance of your visit and are non-refundable. Please note “Hot Meals” are only available on weekends

Sunset Evening Tour Option
Learn the history of this magnificent ship with a private docent after sunset.
Private evening tours are available for groups of 12 or more. The price per head is $25.00 and your private docents are included. Evenings tours are typically available Monday-Thursday. The hours are 7 pm-10 pm.
To reserve a Day Group Tour, please complete our online Reservation Form. After completing your form, you will receive a tour invoice via email and some information to share with your group.
